i agree ranking music is a strange thing but it is fun to do

donewaiting lists are usually "favorites" compared to "best"

because i can say that i do like these two bands or albums... but one i do like more than the other... so there are different levels of it all.

although i think once you get past 10 or 20 everything is on equal ground

once I got past 10 I started listening to more than just the Beatles and Bob Dylan

once I got past 20 I started listening to more than just the British Invasion, the Clash, Elvis Costello, Van Morrison and Neil Young, etc.

then, I made a right at the telelobe just past where it starts to smell like weed and never looked back.

For at least the 7th year in a row, Rolling Stone has rejected my Top 10 Albums of the Year that sound like Drivin' and Cryin' covering John Mellencamp's Scarecrow record.

and yet STILL make multiple people interested in what you're talking about.

holy crap, has anyone heard this 'into lake griffy' record by a band called good luck?? i'm only 3/4 of the way thru it and damn! a record hasn't made me spontaneously bust into a grin every minute and a half since, i dunno, ever. like if gerbils fucked mountain goats (pretty picture!) and had the most incorrigably spastic baby possible. consider it on my list. top fucking 5.

at lollapaloza, i was trying to get my picture taken with john noris cus he was a quasi famous person when i was in middle/highschool. he ended up wanting to talk.... about psychedelic horseshit. he said he has seen them like four or five times and thinks they are genius. it was weird. he also told me that he owned the same shirt i was wearing and complemented it. it was weird. he was following kanye west around i think. or perhaps he was ignoring kanye. his hair was also dyed blonde which i also thought was strange cus he is like fifty. anyway. he was super genuine and nice and all that.
