I'll admit I went to see Frightened Rabbit and left soon after their set was done. It was my first time seeing Tin Armor and I thought they were good. They've got that big drum and guitar sound, a la Voxtrot, Weakerthans, et al. I need to look them up on the myspace. Frightened Rabbit killed and deserved at least another fifteen minutes. I hope they headline on their third trip to our fair city. |

While I would have liked an additional 15 minutes, I was satisfied with the set length - left me wanting more. Cheers to Ben for posting the approx. set times and being pretty accurate. I was home by 11:30 which was great. I loved the between song dialogue from FR's singer ("How many of you saw us at the Grog Shop? .... Oh, the Grog Shop is in Cleveland which explains all the puzzled looks I'm getting.") One of the biggest regrets I had about missing SXSW this year was missing multiple FR performances but I'm glad I got the chance to see them last night. And $1.50 Bud Selects???? PERFECT. |

I opted for sleep over Spinto too, but loved the FR set. "Keep Yourself Warm" was the perfect closer. It also made me realize how much their drummer sets the tone for the songs. He's a heavy hitter. Not a bad voice, either. |
