Best donewaiting day ever.
1) I find out Tom Waits is coming to Columbus
2)I find out that I made Cookie's signature line

First off, I'd like to thank God, who made it possible for me to be up here right now, having my quotation accompany every post of Cookie's for the next several weeks. Also, mom and dad and everyone back in Newark, I'll never forget any of you! Also, my management team at the donewaiting forum and anyone else I might have forgotten, this is truly an honor and I hope to see you up here next year, peace.

I did, and I'm sorry I missed the exhibit. If anyone knows of a good website for upcoming art exhibits in the country, and love to know about it.

Quote:

Waits will be touring with longtime musical ally Larry Taylor (bass), Omar Torrez (guitar), Patrick Warren (keyboards), Casey Waits (drums and percussion) and as yet named reed player; performing hollers, mambos and rhumbas.
...
As on his last tour, Waits' U.S. booking agent and longtime tour director, Stuart Ross, has spent a great deal of effort to fight ticket scalpers. Along with Ticketmaster, he has worked out a plan he believes will make sure every fan pays face value (plus normal service and handling fees) for the tickets purchased for the "Glitter and Doom" tour.

Tickets for all markets are due to go on sale Friday, May 16th. Check local venues and Ticketmaster for specific start times. Tickets will be available via the internet and by phone.

US tour dates are as follows:

"currently no tickets available"
been getting this online and on the phone since about 10:15
did it sell-out already?

Appears that it's already sold out. :(

Just how quickly did these sell out? This is ridiculous.

It took quite a mental effort to convince myself to spend close to a hundred dollars on a ticket and then to find out they sold out 5 minutes after going on sale is making for a very disheartening morning...

Sounds like it was sold out at 10:03. I called at 9:56 and got an automated voice asking me to press "1" for Tom Waits, but then said tickets weren't on sale until 10:00am, so I don't think they sold on the phone early.

I was online at 10:00am exactly, clicked through the couple of prompts, and had my tickets in the "we're holding these seats for you" page WITHIN 60 seconds...I looked, it was still 10:00am on my computer, and my tics were upper balcony in the back right side. I was shocked that these were "best available" within 60 seconds? I almost went back to try for a better seat, but decided to just take the ones I had.

Wow.

Same here. Tried at 10 on-line and didnt start showing available until a couple minutes then the best I got was rear balcony center. Oh well, at least I got a seat.

there are friends of mine that refreshed right at the exact moment (10 am on the nose) the page went up and they got shut out.

This was gone in like 30 seconds for sure.

Look over at brooklynvegan and see all the complaints from the New Yorkers planning on flying out for it - Crazy.

Just had another friend email me about the Waits show...

at 10:01 am on the nose there was NOTHING AVAILABLE.

So, gone in under a minute for sure - prolly faster though.
