It's been a long time (years) since I've seen sword heaven and I had forgotten how much I like them. The only reason it's been so long is they seem to do such short sets that I never feel it's worthwhile to make it out to the shows.

Earth was fine but I guess I was a bit disappointed. I expected it to be louder at least. They did a good job playing their new album but not really an incentive to see the show rather than throw the disc on.

Hamell on Trial was twice as loud as sword heaven and earth combined (too loud actually) and played twice as long. Not his best set (partially hampered by people requesting some of my least favorite hamell songs) but it had some highlights including a 5 minute improv making fun of some chick talking during the show.

i'm so on the fence about sword heaven-sometimes i can't stand what they do and other times it's near beautiful-this was one of those nights, the room really allowed the subtleties to come out

earth were pretty boring though i wasn't expecting otherwise-i'm surprised the crowd weren't clapping slow-don't get me wrong-it was hypnotizing

no alcohol=no treks to the bar/bathroom=sore back

I can remember the last time I was so satisfied after a show (Hammel on Trial). What a fun night, I was laughing so much I thought I was at the Funny Bone. Plus that whole improv about the girl who had her ass in the door under the exit sign was great. I can't believe it took her a good 5 mins to even notice everyone laughing and staring at her, not to mention the song itself...

i was standing behind his amp/on the other side of the doorway from that girl and i was sure that he was gonna fuck with me for standing behind him. thankfully, that girl had his attention. she didn't even get it when i told her what he was doing. i told her that he was singing about her to which she replied "why is everyone saying that?" then, even after she realized what was going on, she still had to be asked to either shut up or leave. she eventually left. it was perfect.

the same thing happened in the same spot during the opener with 4 other girls talking over the music about their day and i just had to leave. too bad, good band.
