Toad Sets Path For February Jaunt

Alternative rock quartet Toad The Wet Sprocket has solidified its 24-date U.S. reunion tour, set to kick off Feb. 4 in Anaheim, Calif. The previously tipped outing will wind across the country through a March 9 gig in Norfolk, Va., hitting theaters and concert halls in major markets.

Boston-based modern rock act Bleu will open all dates, with Alice Peacock supporting the first eight shows of the tour, and Wheat taking the latter's place starting Feb. 16 in St. Louis. Tickets for most dates go on sale next Saturday (Jan. 11); check Toad's official Web site for show-specific on-sale dates and more information.

Toad had been dormant for five years before its return to the stage Dec. 4 at the Arlington Theater in Santa Barbara, Calif., for the annual Rape Crisis Benefit Concert. A run of dates supporting Counting Crows followed in December, and the band played a New Year's show Tuesday (Dec. 31) at the Roxy in Hollywood, Calif. During Toad's hiatus, singer Glen Phillips released a solo album, "Abulum" (Brick Red), while guitarist Todd Nichols and drummer Randy Guss released two albums with their side project Lapdog.
