If you download the new IE7 (which sucks) you cant download from emusic right now, but they still charge you. I tried to download The Saddies Rat Fink today. 26 SONGS. Their solution is turn off their download manager and download manually. 26 songs? Fuck that. Their was no warning anywhere. Here is the canned response.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting eMusic Customer Support. Because of the
urgent nature of your issue, we are sending you this immediate reply. If
this does not resolve your issue, please reply to this email and we will
expedite your issue for resolution. If this e-mail resolves your issue,
there is no need to reply.

Some customers who are using IE 7 may experience issues when attempting
to download songs from our site.

Now that IE 7 has become an official release, we are in the process of
making updates to our site to ensure compatibility. This issue is a top
priority for us. In the meantime, there are two ways to use our
service:

Here is a list of free browsers you can download for your PC that work
well with our service:

- Mozilla - http://www.mozilla.org
- Netscape - http://www.netscape.com
- Opera - http://www.opera.com

You may wish to disable your eMusic Download Manager
in order to download directly from your browser. Once the eMusic
Download Manager is disabled you will not be able to download a full album
in one click.

To disable the eMusic Download Manager:

1. Log in to your eMusic account and click on the "Account"
link in the upper right of the eMusic homepage.
2. Under Download Options, click on the link entitled
"Change Download Manager".
3. Click the button to "Disable the eMusic Download Manager"
(if the button says "Enable eMusic Download Manager",
then you have already disabled it).

Now when you attempt to download a track, you should
be prompted to save the MP3 file directly from your
browser, just as you would when downloading any other
file on the Internet.

Please note that you can redownload your songs without losing credits.

We apologize for the inconvenience and hope this helps resolve your
inquiry.

Regards,

eMusic Customer Support

Yeah, I want my downloads back. It just really bothers me that they obviously knew about the problem, but didnt bother to warn me.

If you've been considering doing this but haven't yet, I would suggest doing it soon. As of November 21st, they will be changing the subscription terms for new memebers. For NEW members, the price for basic subscription will be the same, but they'll get 10 fewer downloads (30 instead of 40). Other plans will be similarly reduced.

For existing members, plans seem to be staying the same.

EDIT: regarding upgrading your current plan:
Quote:
If you are happy with your current plan, simply do nothing. Your old plan will be guaranteed as long as you keep your account active and in good standing. However, if you wish to upgrade to a plan at the current download levels, you must do so before November 21st, 2006. We recommend that you upgrade your account now to lock in at the lowest price per download available. After Nov 21st, if you want to upgrade, you'll no longer be able to upgrade into the older plans.

heh... well nothing is happening to current members, so if you're gonna quit make sure it's because of a different reason!
