What's wrong with the Ohio Patriot Act?
The Ohio Patriot Act:
1. requires a person in a public place to provide the person's name and other identifying information to a law enforcement officer when the officer has reasonable suspicion that either the person is or has been engaged in criminal activity or the person has witnessed a felony offense of violence (violating the right to remain silent)
2. compels local and state officials to comply with federal authorities regarding homeland security (Currently, county sheriffs and other local law enforcement can use their own judgement. This law effectively nationalizes the police force.)
3. restricts municipalities from restricting or hindering national homeland security efforts or passing resolutions against the Federal USA PATRIOT ACT
4. prohibits the state and municipalities from issuing any form of license or doing business with a person who has supported any group on the state's list linked with terrorism in the last ten years. This law also applies to groups who are not on any list, but whose activities clearly merit being on the list. (Al Qaeda is not even on the list) (This is a Retroactive law that punishes people who may have knowingly or unkowingly contributed to a terror-related cause or charity. Of course it's impossible for someone to have known ten years ago which charity may or may not be placed on a list today. This law also supposes a person has perfect knowledge of all the activities of all the members of any particular organization that may be linked to terror)
