Our local Air America station is AM 1230 WTPG. Since changing their format to “progressive talk radio” less than a year ago, they have offered only certain portions of Air America’s programming. For example, they opt to air moderate doofus Ed Schultz in the afternoon, only airing the last hour of the essential Randi Rhodes show (which is often replaced by sports broadcasts).
Up until this week, they’ve carried The Morning Sedition, a funny and topical morning show hosted by Marc Maron and Mark Riley. The beauty of the show comes from the differences of its hosts; Maron is a comedian with a cynical streak and Riley is an experienced broadcaster who tends to have more of the optimistic Clinton attitude. They air some great comedy segments thank to writers who have worked on The Daily Show (including Jim Earl, host of Sediton’s “Rapture Watch,” “The War on Brains” and “The Morning Remembrance"). Over the last few months, The Morning Sedition has become my morning commute radio show of choice.
Unfortunately, it seems as though WTPG has decided to replace Marc and Mark with the new Jerry Springer show. This shouldn’t even be happening… Jerry broadcasts his show every day on Air America AFTER Morning Sedition. They couldn’t play Jerry at his regular time because they air the bland and boring Stephanie Miller during that time slot.
If you’re a fan of Morning Sedition, call, fax, email, or stop by the station and tell them that you want The Morning Sedition back on the air.
