Meh.
The "oh no letter" does not affect me in the least, because I've seen identical letters for Bush from people that live in New York, right at ground zero. Sorry that she feels unsafe. In her mind, the only way to fight an enemy that has sworn to kill you is to befriend them. You can't befriend people that want you dead. You just can't do it. It'd be great if we could. Think of the savings in terms of lives alone. But we don't live in that world....this world is a violent place where things are decided by bullets. It doesn't happen here, it doesn't happen in Canada, or Mexico for that matter. We don't see it. Since we don't see it, we can't fathom it. We can't fathom "honor killings." We can't fathom virgin women in South Africa wearing yellow ribbons to tell the potential rape gangs out there that she's AIDS free and they should respect that fact and not rape her because the AIDS epidemic threatens to end the existence of one third of the country.
We have had it easy for the last twenty years. Now all of a sudden we have to actually get our hands dirty...as a nation. The US has been doing things that most of the population would find "disgusting" or "ethically challenged" for years. But it's been behind the scenes. Now its out in the open.
And its our own damn fault.
We got soft. The Iron Curtain fell, "We're in the clear", we thought. No need for this pesky army. No need for all of this intelligence community. No need to worry.
When you are number one, there is always someone looking to take you down.
Kerry's way was not the right way. Bush's way may not be the right way either, but its a better way. When you are dealing with people that traditionally settle disputes with bullets...you have to speak to them in their language.
To address Justin:
Only one group of people give a damn about this country and this country alone and only one group of people will fuck over every other nation of non-Americans to ensure that the United States is as safe as it can be. And that's evil conservatives. Not Moderate Republicans. Not Conservative Democrats. I'm talking Nationalism here people. And that's what guys like W are. He goes above and beyond conservatism.
Unfortunatley Nationalism is a slippery slope. While this is true:
Liberalisim=Socialisim=Communisim
then this is also most certainly true:
Conservatisim=Nationalisim=Facisim
And here's where it gets sticky. We are in a period of time where nationalism serves us well. But the great fear, and mostly by liberals is that the big F will set in. Rock knows, the big F does no one any good save those in power. It's always a risk. But it's also very easy to step away from as well. Socialism is not.
Right now, right here, today, rampant conservatism serves this country well. Down the road, maybe it won't, maybe a more centrist view will be appropriate. Unfortunately, we cannot fix the house until the storm has passed, and it is weather of our own making.....until we make the world realize that the United States of America is the strongest nation in the world...with a fucking bullet....we then have to screw the pooch and bite the bullet on some social issues.
I don't like it. As a Nationalist, I'm an isolationist, I don't give a damn about anyone but you and me. But right now, at this point in time, we cannot focus on internal matters. Regardless of how we got here, it has to be addressed correctly.
Unity never won a war.
And yes, I dish it out, so of course I can take it, ya fucking knob.
