anyone know an uncommonly good liquor store around town? i want to get gifts for some friends, and i'd like to get them something a little different than the same 10 brands of whiskey and scotch they sell everywhere else. doesn't have to be (in fact, shouldn't be) expensive, just a better than usual selection.
thanks.

last time i checked one of the only places that sold liquor that wasn't a state liquor store was europia in the short north. which might be pricey.

if you're not committed to liquor, the twisted vine in grandview and the spagio wine cellars have decent selections of wines, ports, dessert wines, etc. twisted vine also has a good beer selection (read: fancy, imported frou-frou beer).

the sharon square liquor shop (in worthington) has garnered good reviews from my my lushy friends who are snobs but don't drink wine.

AND weilands just opened that beer and liquor annex but it might just be more of the same.

hope this helps.

last minute edit... why the hell isn't there an emoticon for tying one on?

there's one off henderson up around tj maxx/platos closet area that i like a lot. great selection of higher end stuff. but i haven't been there in over a year, and i rarely hit liquorstorz any more, so don't quote me on it . . .

(also, this thread keeps grabbing my attention because my ps3/xbox gamertag is "robyn liquorstorz")

If you want fancy/weird/rare stuff I'd use the Internets.
