Hippes versus the entitlement generation - let the culture wars begin... errr... wait a minute... weren't the hippies the original "entitlement generation"?

anyway, people like this Erin Furlong are the exact reason why Comfest has lost it's luster (in my eyes).

Sofa King just pointed out to me, that she wants 'to bring her own beer, and not have to pay for it' someone should alert the carry-outs in the area that Ms. Furlong plans on lifting her beer.

The "issue" (and why it's not comparable to the PLBO) is that it's in an open, public park. It's not too difficult to see where/how (mis)perception(s) arise.

That and the fact that it's called "Community Festival". I suggest renaming it to the "(Not Necessarily Your) Community Festival (Unless You Volunteer)"

I also suggest getting better bands.

You're like the Jeff Foxworthy of Comfest. Get a new joke, hippy.

You are absolutely right. It is a public park! One that prohibits alcohol being brought into the park.

The misconception that comfest created a law to ruin your user experience is the worst one yet.

Actually, I consider myself the "Larry The Cable Guy" of dumbwaiting, but thanks for the compliment. And the "joke" is on the stages (and in your pants).

Did the Comfest representative in that clip tell people to go ahead and BYOB, just don't be obvious about it?

Probably not intentionally. She meant to say "I'm not a monster. Please stop bitching at me. It wasn't even my idea."

Also, HCYW is considerably newer and further below the radar. I think the people that even know of its existence would necessarily have a clearer understanding of its origins and rules. Comfest, on the other hand, is an event that just "happens" every year; everyone feels entitled to be there.

Aren't you playing this year in one of the bands on Gazebo?

i am happy that people are maybe starting to understand that these are community organizations getting special permission to sell alcohol for charitable causes (don't forget all of the grants comfest gives out every year in addition to the free line up of music and fun)...

i cannot speak for comfest, but every person who tries to bring in outside alcohol to HCYW (and this has been an issue) jeopardizes not only our ability to throw future events, but also our organization's future sustainability.

I think it's amazing that it has only just this year come to this! Comfest has always been about getting drunk in the park. In my opinion, only a very small percentage of people actually give a flying fuck about the bands.

Ah yes, we in the "Hippie Eradication" bidness refer to that as "the nuclear option."
