went this afternoon finally. place was hopping at 2pm on a saturday, but it seemed like they had more staff than patrons somehow. i counted something like 6 servers, a bartender, 6 cooks, and two managers. i think we had no fewer than five different employees come to our table. weird, but i'll bet once their volume regulates, they'll figure out how to staff efficiently. got a half meatball, half mushroom specialty pie. they do red (tomato base) and white (olive oil base) sauces and will do half and half sauce on one pizza, which is pretty cool. the mushroom half (with white sauce) was certainly not lacking for toppings and was pretty impressive. the meatball half was pretty good too. the red sauce is thin and a little spicy. weird serving choice: they bring you the pie on a steel pizza sheet, but they slide a cardboard circle inbetween the pizza and the sheet. everything else was relatively classy for a pizza joint, so this didn't really make sense. i didn't get anything to drink, but they had a pretty good beer and wine selection at the bar. overall, dewey's is a good "fancy" pizza. a little on the expensive side, but you're not getting cheated. they'll work the kinks out of the dine-in, i'm sure (they bordered on "overserving" us), but it's still a nice option. |

so, tried bexley pizza plus this past week. cruise, you were right about the vibe of the place, luckily, it was the first day of the 60degee weather, so while li'l miss mayhem and i were all too excited to eat outside, NO one else was going to be eating in the "chill" so we didn't have to deal with ANY of the douches and chaches inside. but, the pizza was good. damn good. AND they have two very different types of sausage. which meant that my standard double-sausage-onion pie had mad extra flavor. fluffy crust that wasn't "columbus eastside cracker thin" pizza but nowhere near what i'd call a thick crust. fucking amazing cold, too. BP+ and rubino's are so totally apples and oranges that there's no way i could pick one as better than the other, but both got a more-than-four-outta-five from both me & the girl. BP+ has a lot more toppings that i'd like to try, and i REALLY loved the 2 different options for the sausage (chunky=spicier, crumble=fennel-ey, both together=heaven) but i think the one sausage that rubino's had beat them both. and now that the weather's getting colder, and eating inside is more likely, if i'm in that hood again, it's gonna be rubino's, just for the vibe. i like "family-run" joints way more than i like "family-friendly" ones . . . gotta try dewey's soon, just so i can stop derailing this thread . . . |

I dropped the pizza dough on the floor? I've been making some great pizza lately for my customers. I drop the dough on the floor before putting the toppings on it. It gives it more flavor and people have been raving about the taste lately. Do you want a slice? ____________________ ~ ~ |
